Luisa Bocchietto

Architect and designer, she graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1985 with a thesis in Industrial Design under the supervision of Prof. Marco Zanuso, and simultaneously earned a diploma in Interior Architecture from IED. Since 1985, she has worked as a freelance professional with her own studio in Biella, focusing on architectural design, restoration, urban planning, custom furniture, and product design for furniture companies. She also manages art direction, exhibition stands, and installations for major trade fairs. She has conceived and curated exhibitions such as D come Design (2008), aimed at promoting women’s contributions to design, and POP Design at the Filatoio di Caraglio. She is the author of the book Abitare nel Biellese. Her projects have been published in industry magazines, and she has given lectures in Italy and abroad. She collaborates as a visiting professor with design schools and universities, and regularly serves on international juries. Committed to promoting design culture, she served as President of the Biella Chamber of Architects and held key roles within ADI (Italian Association for Industrial Design): President of the Piedmont and Aosta Valley Delegation (2003–2008) and National President for two terms (2008–2014). She contributed to the founding of CIDIC, a center for Italy-China cooperation in design, promoted the Compasso d’Oro award abroad (Brussels, Lima, Bogotá), and was a member of the Italian Design Council of the Ministry of Culture. From 2014 to 2016, she was Editor-in-Chief of the international architecture and design magazine PLATFORM. She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Politecnico di Milano Foundation and of the Advisory Board of the Politecnico di Torino. She served as President Elect of ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) for the 2017–2019 term. In 2025, she takes on the role of Art Director at Tonon
